The Mission Behind Harris Renovations & Pickleberry Properties
Tommy and Crystal Harris didn’t set out to just build a successful real estate business. Their true mission was much deeper – providing affordable housing and a fresh start for families across Tulsa.
It all began when Tommy, who had experience renovating their own homes, wanted to turn his passion into a profession. A friend suggested starting a renovations company to support a real estate venture. With financing from First Oklahoma Bank, they tackled their first project, and a year later, they purchased a bundle of five homes.

Providing Hope Through Housing
For the Harrises, it was never just about the money. “Whenever you see someone come in and look at a home that you’ve just renovated, and you can tell that to them, this home is amazing…it gives them hope,” Tommy shared. Many of their tenants were moving from dilapidated housing into newly renovated properties they could truly call home.
Crystal recalled one woman so overjoyed to sign her lease that she asked to have her picture taken at that moment. “It just really touched my heart and…encouraged me [that] we need to do more of this,” she said. Their goal is to grow their affordable housing portfolio to 40 properties.
Finding a Reliable Partner
The couple credits First Oklahoma Bank for being a true partner every step of the way. “They’ve been there from the start…it’s been good,” Tommy stated. The bank’s team, like Eric and Samantha, have provided unwavering support, answering questions, and ensuring the Harrises never felt alone.
Tommy and Crystal’s faith is deeply rooted in their work as well. “At the end of the day, it is a ministry,” Tommy reflected. Just as Tom Bennett Jr., co-founder of First Oklahoma Bank, sees his work as a “ministry of banking,” the Harrises view providing homes as their own sacred calling to serve the Tulsa community.
